The car kept passing us as we stood in the street in our orange vests. Attempts to flag the car down to give directions for parking were ignored until the third time they passed us. There was an event downtown and all of the parking meters on the street were occupied.
The antis were out in full force on this Saturday. It must have been an intimidating sight for anyone driving by. There were so many people, escorts and antis, milling around on the sidewalk in front of the clinic.
We were all strangers to the client and companion. When they finally stopped to talk to us, they let us know they weren’t sure who we were. They didn’t know who was supporting and who was protesting. They didn’t want to park. They just wanted to have a safe way to drop the client as close to the door as possible.
They took advantage of the drop-off zone in front of the clinic and we helped the client get inside quickly while trying to minimize the chaos for them.

REMINDER: Our annual fund drive Pledge-A-Picketer is NOW!
The Sunday before Mother’s Day is the biggest protester day of the year. It also is the date where we count protesters for donations to support the pro-choice effort and the escorts. You can pledge a certain amount for each protester showing up that morning. If you prefer, you can also make a straight monetary donation.
Use this form to make your pledge:
Were you guys wearing your clinics eascorts vests? Maybe you should have signs that say in big bold lettering – CLINIC ESCORT! That’s great though that a drop off spot has been working for ya’ll ! Good luck and keep up the good work!
Oubli,
We were wearing our orange vests that say “Clinic Escort” in big black letters, but there are some clients who either do not know or forget about the orange vests. There were just so many people around the door. The drop-off zone is a definite plus. We have two full parking spaces that are no parking on Saturday mornings right in front of the clinic door. It helps a lot.
Thanks,
